Welcome!Want to play tennis regularly? Looking for somewhere for your children to learn? Looking for an enthusiastic friendly club? Look no further. We have all ages and abilities, so you're bound to fit in. Some HistoryIn about 1926, a kind parishioner left some land in trust for recreational use and Aldershot Methodist Tennis Club was founded. The club runs independently of the church and you do not have to be a Methodist to join. FacilitiesThe club has three courts - two recently resurfaced all weather courts and a brand new third court with a practice wall, officially opened by Sam Smith on 11 April 1999. The courts and a club house, all in a tranquil setting surrounded by gardens. Our membership fee includes Associate Membership to the Bowls Club next door, allowing us to use their clubhouse facilities. There is space around the courts for children to play. Social TennisOn Tuesday evenings, 6.00pm and Saturday afternoons, 2.00pm throughout the summer, adult members of playing standard can just turn up and enjoy a game of social tennis. The atmosphere is quite relaxed; there should always be a club member on duty to make you welcome and to make sure you are well matched. Several fun tournaments are scheduled through the season. We also have a number of social events - dinners, barbecues etc. Local leaguesThe club enters a number of teams in both summer and winter leagues (men's and ladies' doubles, mixed and juniors) for those who are more competitive. We run our own Tournament and a Championship throughout the summer. Private use of courtsWith three courts in operation there should be a court available for use at most times. Members are free to arrange their own games at no extra charge. A booking diary is kept in the club. CoachingFor people wanting to learn the game, we have arranged "Improvers Social Tennis" coaching sessions, running through the season on Monday evenings at 6pm. Private coaching can also be arranged with Tony Prior, an excellent coach who works with the club. For younger playersTony Prior, a qualified tennis coach, looks after the thriving junior section. He supervises regular coaching 8.30 - 2.00 every Saturday morning. Juniors have their own tournament and championship which run alongside the senior events, as well as special events during the holidays. You can contact Tony on 01252 692 557. Where to find us
