CLEAR-UP DAY - Saturday 19th September 9am.
Firstly many thanks, on behalf of the committee, to everyone who came along to the Spring Clear-up Day - it was the best turn out for years and we almost ran out of jobs! The next one is the Autumn Clear-up which is on Saturday 19th September from 9am with social tennis to follow. Everyone welcome as usual. If you could bring your own garden tools that would help but is not compulsory. Elbow grease is the most useful ingredient.
FURTHER FUNDRAISING EVENTS
A concert shared with St Georges Church, Badshot Lea will take place on the evening of Saturday 14th November 2009. A range of soloists and choirs will be featured including our very own Barry Hall who has organised the event! Proceeds will be shared with the church and will go towards our floodlights. This should be a great evening and will include a glass of wine and nibbles at a cost of around £6.00. A detailed programme will be available later this month.
There will also be an evening event in the New Year. Chris Hollwey will be the organiser - date, venue and more details to follow in the Autumn. Please let us have any other ideas you may have.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Our AGM will be, as usual, in February. I will let you know the date as soon as possible so that you can put it in your diary. The last AGM was not well attended so the Committee would really appreciate it if you were able to spend the time to come and join in with some of the discussions. Ideas from you all are more than welcome. The AGM is the time when all committee members stand down so if you feel you would like to be involved and come on to the next committee (2010/11) please let me know and also come to the AGM!
CHRISTMAS/BOXING DAY TENNIS SOCIAL
As you know this event has always been popular with whole families, members or not, joining in to work off those seasonal calories! With the demise of the Aldershot Tennis Centre earlier this year we are unsure whether there will be a venue for this event this year. We will keep you posted.
Currently we would like to hear from you about trophy presentation events. Up until the last two or three years presentations were made at an evening dinner event. These, however, take a great deal of organising and rely on members wanting to attend. To find out what members wanted, Chris Hollwey posted a list for members to sign indicating their preference for either reinstating the presentation dinner evenings or keeping trophy presentations to the days of their events. Few people signed up to the list so we aren't really sure whether this reflects the views of the majority. Please let us know if you have strong feelings either way.
Winter social tennis continues on Saturdays but please refer to the League Match Schedule which is posted on the clubhouse noticeboard or available from Jenny Austin. This will show you the home matches which means that two courts will be occupied for most of the afternoon. Also if you want to keep up with the AMTC's achievements in the Aldershot and District League matches you can find these on the website: www.aldershotdistrictlta.com/leagues.html
